Your Bucket List: And the Goals to Get There!

Having a bucket list is permitting yourself to dream! Let’s dream together, and in our relationships, and then create the goals to get the most out of life. We love a life that works!

Why have a Bucket List?

A bucket list is a list of the experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime. Here are some amazing benefits to articulating your very personal bucket list:

ONE: Creates Shared Goals and Vision: Sharing your bucket list with significant others can help align your goals and aspirations, fostering intimacy and connection.

TWO: Promotes Intimacy: Discussing your bucket list with loved ones can deepen your relationships, as it allows you to understand each other's desires and dreams better.

THREE: Enhances Cohesion: Pursuing bucket list items together can strengthen your bonds and create lasting memories.

FOUR: Provides opportunities for Adventure, Friendship, and Fun: A bucket list can lead to exciting adventures and experiences with friends and family.

FIVE: Enhances Meaning, Fulfillment, and Satisfaction: Achieving items on your bucket list can bring a sense of purpose and satisfaction to your life.

Consider the following starter questions as you make your list.

  • How do I want to make a difference in my/the world? (show up)

  • How do I want to help others?

  • What do I want to see and experience?

  • What talents and skills do I want to develop?

  • What matters most to me?

  • What types of goals and activities will help me to become a better person?

As you and your spouse share more of yourselves, strengthen your friendship, cheer each other on, and create happy memories, you will find greater happiness, fulfillment, satisfaction, and joy in life and your marriage. Sounds like a win-win-win.

Once you have finished creating your personal list now we develop our Together Bucket List. That's right, things you two want to accomplish together. Adventures you dream of sharing. Memory makers, you want to develop and share for a lifetime. Help each other to pick the top two of those goals that you each want to accomplish in the next year.

As you create your bucket list (use a LIVING Google doc that you can both add to), start to create a timeline for yourselves. Decide which items can be accomplished in six months, and which ones in three years, five, or ten years. Readdress the goals that in the past have never been reached and remain on the list. Consider asking for help. Don’t allow the thoughts and patterns of your past to continue to steal your dreams and preferred future.

Once you know what you want to accomplish, start planning! Do you need to save money for that trip? What kind of physical preparation do you need to do? Start now!

Setting goals and creating bucket lists is a powerful way to transform your life. It helps you define your aspirations, align with your values, and strengthen your relationships. By turning your dreams into tangible goals and taking consistent action, you can create a life that is meaningful, fulfilling, and filled with incredible experiences. Remember, you are the creator of your life, and the possibilities are endless. So, go ahead, take that brave inventory, and start setting goals that will shape your future.
